A recent study found that when it comes to adoption, people admit to not knowing much. In fact, people know less about adoption than any other social issue measured! About 135,000 children are adopted in the United States. Of non-stepparent adoptions, about 59 percent are from the foster care system, 26 percent are from other countries, and 15 percent are voluntarily relinquished American babies.
